From customized consulting projects, financial support, and volunteering opportunities, there are a number of ways to be involved in the DeGroote student community

DeGroote is dedicated to building comprehensive support services designed for student success. Your support ensures that our finest and neediest students have a chance to develop as business leaders and gain a superior education.

Financial Support Options

There are many ways to financially support students through their learning journey at DeGroote. This assistance provides relief and encouragement for students to focus on their academic studies and to pursue extracurricular learning experiences.

Support our students by:

Establishing a student award

  • Scholarship (based primarily on academic merit)
  • Bursary (based primarily on financial need)
  • Academic Grant (based on a combination of academic merit and financial need)
  • Entrance Award (supports students entering Level 1)

Do this by funding an:

  • Endowed Award.
    • An endowed award will exist in perpetuity as the capital remains untouched. Only a portion of the investment income is awarded each year.
  • Expendable Award.
    • An expendable award exist only for the period of time that funding is provided and is expended in its entirety for this duration, annually.

Supporting experiential learning opportunities

  • MBA Program Fund
  • DeGroote Experience Fund
    Enables DeGroote students to learn through experience. Available to Undergraduate, MBA, and other specialized Master’s students. Funds support teams for national and international competitions, conferences, leadership workshops, and a wide variety of events supporting students

In recognition of

Student awards may be named for the individual, family, group or organization that funds them. You may also name your award in honour of a special person in your life, or to commemorate a special event.

Ongoing Project Support

EMBA Capstone

EMBA Capstone Project

The capstone project addresses real digital transformation issues at our partner companies. It provides an opportunity for students to experience what it is like to work on a consulting project, and it is also an application of their learning.

BLPT MBA Capstone

Blended Learning Part-Time MBA Capstone Project

This capstone project allows organizations the opportunity to partner with a group of MBA students to complete a real-time, customized consulting project from January to July, at no cost to the organization.

Judging Opportunities and Case Competitions

Pitch for Charity

Pitching in for Charity

DeGroote MBA candidates work with charities to answer one question: What should your charity do with $5,000?

Wrestling with the real world challenges these charities face, MBA candidates use their practical experience and classroom knowledge to provide sound business advice and solutions.

Presenting to a panel of judges, the best-judged solution receives a prize of $5,000, which is provided to the charity they are representing.

24 Hour Case Competition

24-Hour Case Competition

Introduced in 2019, first year commerce students are given a case to solve. They must brainstorm, collaborate, and problem-solve in assigned student groups over a 24-hour period. Following this, the students present their solutions to a panel of judges.
